On February 22, the exhibition "First Position: Russian Ballet" was held. The project is a journey through the history of the creation and development of ballet in Russia. The spacious two-story space of the Manege allowed us to showcase the evolution of ballet through the history of our country, through the lens of cultural, political, and scientific revolutions.

The evolution of Russian ballet is seen through the lens of cultural, political and scientific changes. The lighting solutions follow the set design and the specific characteristics of the venues. Achieving a balance of brightness, providing adequate illumination and ensuring visual comfort for the audience has become a priority.

In the lobby area, visitors can "step behind the scenes". Rooms are dimmed for multimedia presentations, while the use of blue light in the backstage area creates an immersive atmosphere reminiscent of the set design for Swan Lake.

On the historical floor, solutions for wall lighting with rich signage were predominant. The uniform lighting completed the volumes of the display cases and showcased the exhibits. Spotlights aimed at mirrored niches with sculptures prevented the light sources from being visible and added backlighting through reflection. The location of the light sources, optics, color temperature, and color were determined by the plot and features of the performances in the mock-ups.

In the Diaghilev's enterprise hall, mirrored islands with historical costumes became the centerpiece. The combination of linear luminaires created a standard illumination, taking into account the small size of the display cases. Reflections of decorations based on Roerich's works appeared in the gradient-tinted mirrors of the islands thanks to the lighting on the walls. To prevent glare, all spotlights are covered with cinefoil.

The blue accent behind the stairs in the rear hall echoed the lighting technique used in the front hall, completing the historical part of the exhibition in a spatial way.

The storefronts are illuminated with a combination of oval lenses and miniature accent lamps, which create a unique effect that highlights the historical costumes: the costumes are designed along the entire height. The backdrop behind the translucent mesh windows adds an additional layer of illumination, creating a stunning display.
